The city of Branson needs your help!
A recent power outage has caused the mayor to ask for help from sixth grade students at Buchanan Intermediate. Knowing that you have learned all about the earth's natural resources, she is asking you for suggestions on how to power up our city. With a partner, you will need to research using the following websites to find the most efficient forms of energy. One must be a renewable energy source, and one must be a nonrenewable energy source. Below you will find the links to three helpful websites. Use each one to complete your research while filling in the graphic organizer provided. Just follow the link below to access the graphic organizer in Google docs! You can use it to take notes on each type of resource. Be sure to copy the graphic organizer by going to File, Make a Copy, and click OK. You must share this with me before moving on with your research. |

Once you have completed your research, it is time to make a decision. Which renewable resource will you choose? Which nonrenewable resource? Make sure you have one of each! Remember that our city is counting on you.
Using a Google slide presentation, show what you have learned. Each resource should have enough slides to explain what it is and how we get it, what it is used for, the advantages, the disadvantages, and fun facts. The last page will be your resources page. Include any website you got information from.
You will want to present your information so that the mayor is persuaded to use your two energy sources. Be sure to include images that are relevant, create slides that are visually appealing, and organize your information with titles on each page.
Share your presentation with me when you are finished. Don't forget to visit the Expectations page for the rubric. You need to make sure you have done everything on the rubric to the best of your ability.
You will be presenting your projects to the class on the final day. Both group members must participate in the presentation. Remember to use your best public speaking skills!
Good luck and have fun helping your town!
